It shows
- The text was typed key by key, not pasted, autofilled or generated onto the page.
- The rhythm fits human hands: the gaps between keys depend on which keys come next.
- When it was written, how long it took, and whether the text in front of you is the same.
It can't show
- Who was typing. Links are anonymous.
- Where the ideas came from. Someone could retype words they didn't write, and the certificate says so.
- Edits made after sealing. Change one character and it stops matching.
Questions
- Do you keep what I write?
- No. We keep the timing of each keystroke and a one-way fingerprint of the finished text. The fingerprint can confirm a text matches. It can't be turned back into your words.
- What if I paste something in?
- It's marked as pasted, and readers see it as pasted. A text that's mostly pasted can't be sealed, because there's nothing typed to show.
- I type slowly. I make typos.
- Write the way you always do. Speed doesn't matter, and there's nothing to perform.
- Can it be fooled?
- Pasting, autofill and typing scripts don't get through, and neither do scripts that fake a rhythm. Beating it takes a purpose-built simulation of a human hand, and every certificate says exactly that. Sometimes the timing simply doesn't add up either way; then the draft can't be sealed yet, and writing more usually settles it.
- Does it work on a phone?
